1. To Batch or Not to Batch
============================================================
Batching or grouping like tasks together in Lean processes is discouraged. Why? Because often when we group tasks, we end up not finishing anything. I’ve seen this on more than one occasion in offices where someone started cleaning the supply closet. Everything got taken out but an interruption happened and it was never finished and thrown back helter skelter into the closet. Typically, a project like this would be better done shelf by shelf or drawer by drawer or one flow processing; not batching. To decide if you will be more productive atching or not batching, try it yourself. Now, here is the challenge, identify in your office and life what enhances productivity by batching or not batching.

2. First Impressions Count
============================================================
When’s the last time you really looked at your office? Vow today to take a look at it with the eyes of a first-time client/guest. Look for these tell-tale signs of a tired business:
• Dirty windows
• Signs that are not fully lit and/or missing letters
• Clutter – on every surface in your office
• Faded paint
• Mismatched furniture
• Antiseptic white walls

Freshen up your office – and your employees’ outlook on life – by decluttering, adding a fresh coat of paint and creating an environment that says, “we love working here!” Just imagine the impression you’ll make on those new clients.

3. What Does Your Business Card Say?
===========================================================
Your business cards reflect how you do business. Business cards are an important part of your word-of-mouth campaign. Your card needs to show your company name, logo, address, telephone and fax numbers, and your e-mail address along with your name and title.
